CLE: The Rise of Privacy Laws in the U.S.: Navigating the Legal Landscape
November 21, 2024 – noon to 1:00 p.m.
The data privacy landscape in the US is evolving rapidly with 19 states having enacted privacy legislation. Navigating this new landscape is becoming a challenge for businesses’ and attorneys. The CLE will focus on practical advice on how to navigate this dynamic landscape.
3-4 Learning Objectives:
- Understanding the patchwork of data privacy laws and how that affects Nevada’s businesses and law firms;
- Understanding what companies and law firms need to do to comply with the patchwork of state laws when collecting and using personal data;
- Understanding how California’s privacy law and other State laws affect Nevada companies and law firms.
Purpose
To provide leadership on emerging issues at the intersection of law, science, and technology in Nevada; to promote sound understanding on such issues, and to enhance the professional development of its members. Goals of this section include:
- Greater exposure to members of the bar to participate in the section;
- Sponsorship of publication of videos, computer, audio, and written materials and provide certified legal education lectures for members of the section;
- Formulation and organization of immediate and long-range goals which will be in the best interest of its members and as a section of the State Bar of Nevada.
