Financial Statements, Monthly Operating Reports and Other Things That Just Don’t Add Up

Today’s speakers will provide an overview of how to decipher information contained in financial statements, monthly operating reports, and other commonly used financial documents.
FACULTY
Edward (Ted) Burr heads up Mac Restructuring Advisors. Ted has more than 30 years of corporate restructuring experience. He has served as a financial and restructuring expert to both debtors and creditors. He has testified in federal bankruptcy court on a variety of issues including feasibility matters, cram down interest rates, 1111(b) election issues, business valuation, and many more. Ted is a nationally recognized expert particularly on feasibility and cram down interest rate matters. Ted is also a Subchapter V Bankruptcy Trustee for Regions 14 and 17.
Bart Larsen, of Shea Larsen, has over 20 years of experience in bankruptcy, commercial litigation, and real estate law. He represents creditors and debtors in Chapter 11 proceedings and has extensive experience litigating complex UCC and landlord-tenant disputes. Bart played a key role in drafting Nevada’s first commercial leasing statute in 2011 and has testified before the legislature on amendments to eviction and detainer statutes. He also advises borrowers and lenders on foreclosures, loan restructurings, and lender liability litigation.
James Patrick Shea, of Shea Larsen, has over 40 years of experience advising financial institutions, landlords, vendors, creditors’ committees, debtors, bankruptcy trustees and other parties in business bankruptcy proceedings. Jim also advises clients in commercial litigation relating to other aspects of the debtor-creditor relationship, including the enforcement of their rights in liquidations, receiverships, litigation, and informal out-of-court workouts. Nationally recognized in the field of commercial insolvency and reorganization, he is the former president, and past chairman of the board of the American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI). He serves as the chair of ABl’s Civility Task Force and is a former program chair of ABl’s Southwest Bankruptcy Conference.

Purpose:
To enhance the role and skills of lawyers engaged in the practice of bankruptcy law through study, collection, development and dissemination of materials on subjects of interest to the bankruptcy law practitioner; to assist in the formulation, administration and implementation of programs, forums, and other activities for the education of members of the State Bar of Nevada in matters pertaining to bankruptcy laws and regulations; and to act upon all matters germane to its purposes as so described or referred to it by the Board of Governors.
