The State Bar of Nevada was extremely saddened to hear of the unexpected passing of federal Judge Larry R. Hicks as the result of a car collision yesterday, May 29, near the Bruce R. Thompson Federal Courthouse in Reno.
Judge Hicks had served on the bench for the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada since his appointment in 2001. He served on the State Bar of Nevada’s Board of Governors from 1988 to 1994 and was president of the state bar from 1993-1994. In 2020, he was awarded the State Bar of Nevada’s Presidential Award for his lifetime achievements. Nevada’s federal courthouses will fly their flags at half-staff today in memory of Judge Hicks’ service. State bar President Julie Cavanaugh-Bill offers her personal condolences to all affected by his passing.
