The State Bar of Nevada was pleased to present its 2023 Membership Awards during its annual Bar Conference, which took place June 21-23, 2023, in New York City. These awards recognize individuals and organizations for their service to the bar and their contributions to the legal profession.
The 2023 award recipients include:
- Medal of Justice Award: Alice Denton, Jarien Cho, Marianne Denton, and Patrick Denton, in recognition of their exemplary pro bono service on behalf of the victims of the 1 Oct. shooting
- Bryan K. Scott Trailblazer Award: Hon. Johnnie B. Rawlinson, in recognition for her noteworthy career achievements, including being one of the first two Black women admitted to the State Bar of Nevada, being the first Black woman on the state bar’s Board of Governors, and being the first Black woman to sit on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
- Young Lawyer of the Year: Caleb Green, a rising star in Intellectual Property law, who developed legislation in this area of law passed by the 2023 Nevada Legislature
- Volunteer of the Year: The State Bar of Nevada’s LGBT Section, for exemplary pro bono service resulting in winning the first-ever Section Pro Bono Challenge
