Effective this month, administration of the Nevada Board of Continuing Legal Education now falls under the purview of the State Bar of Nevada. This change follows a Supreme Court Order issued earlier this year, which provides office space, employment, and oversight of CLE Board staff under the administration of the state bar’s Board of Governors. The Board of Continuing Legal Education will continue to oversee annual compliance requirements, accredit CLE providers, and approve programs for credit in Nevada.
The Court brought a petition for these proposed changes, in substantial part, to bring administration of the Board of Continuing Legal Education into conformity with the regulations that govern other similar entities that provide critical functions to members of the bar, such as the Board of Bar Examiners, and the Commission on Access to Justice. With administration falling under the State Bar of Nevada, the Board of Continuing Legal Education will continue to serve its mission: To protect the public by ensuring the availability of quality continuing legal education for members of the bar and ensuring compliance with the CLE rules. Members will continue to receive excellent customer service.
Nevada attorneys should not expect to see any changes or disruptions to the 2022 reporting year. Credit hour, dues and affirmation compliance requirements and reporting processes will remain the same. Links to check credit hour compliance, rules, deadlines and forms can now be found here.
