On Monday, Oct. 4, 2021, the North Las Vegas Justice Court issued Administrative Order 2021-06, regarding the filing of eviction seven-day notices to pay or quit. Recently, the court has experienced several cases in which landlords have been using forms that contain Las Vegas Justice Court information, as opposed to North Las Vegas Justice Court information. This trend has resulted in tenants filing answers with the wrong court, and subsequently, summary evictions are granted in error. The court has issued this order to improve the process.
According to the order, the North Las Vegas Justice Court clerks shall reject eviction filings due to improper service as follows:
- The notice contains references or links to the Las Vegas Justice Court address and website.
- The notice fails to provide the physical address and website for the North Las Vegas Justice Court.
- The notice erroneously provides the link to Tyler Host electronic filing.
