FACULTY

Melissa Exline earned dual degrees in Philosophy and Political Science from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1999, and later a Juris Doctor from Golden Gate University in 2002. After passing the California Bar Exam, she returned to Reno/Sparks, became licensed in Nevada in 2003, and has since specialized in family law, joining Surratt Law Practice in 2008.

Joshua P. Gilmore is a partner at Bailey Kennedy, LLP. Part of his practice involves legal ethics and professional responsibility, including defending attorneys before the Southern Nevada Disciplinary Board and providing advice and assistance on disqualification motions, lawyer advertising, lawyer departures, and charging liens.

Dan Hooge, Chief Bar Counsel for the State Bar of Nevada, oversees investigations and prosecutions of lawyer conduct violations and has previously served as Lincoln County’s District Attorney. He holds a J.D. from Brigham Young University, is a member of the National Organization of Bar Counsel, and is licensed to practice in Nevada and Utah.

Jennifer Braster (moderator) is a co-founder of Naylor & Braster and boasts an extensive litigation background in Nevada’s state and federal courts, handling diverse cases from business disputes to animal law. As a dedicated animal advocate, she was instrumental in establishing Nevada’s Animal Law Section and continually advocates for enhanced animal protections.
