The State Bar of Nevada’s Bryan K. Scott Trailblazer Award recognizes attorneys, firms, and organizations that have been leaders in promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity, or that have led efforts to support diverse organizations or groups. Criteria include showing exceptional understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and take action to involve people from diverse backgrounds and provide them with opportunities. All members of the legal community may be considered, including professionals who work in transactional, litigation or government roles.

Ideal candidates are those who undertake activities such as: creating awareness and recognizable visibility for diversity, inclusion, and equity; developing systems for consciousness of bias during hiring, promoting, and evaluating employment processes; committing time and resources to expand diverse leadership; embodying respect and tolerance in workplace interactions and everyday practices; pursuing cultural competency by creating learning and training opportunities; or fostering open and transparent communications, even on difficult or controversial issues.
