The Nevada Supreme Court has set hearing dates for the following two administrative orders:
- ADKT 0445: This petition seeks to amend Nevada Rule of Professional Conduct (NRPC) 1.8(e), which prohibits lawyers from providing financial support to clients in connection with pending or contemplated litigation, with limited exceptions.
- ADKT 0611: This petition seeks to adopt Supreme Court Rule (SCR) 49.5 to allow limited practice of law under the supervision of organized legal services programs by law school graduates who have not yet passed the Nevada bar examination for a limited time while attempting to pass the bar examination.
A public hearing will be conducted on these matters on October 2, 2023, at 3 p.m. in the Supreme Court courtrooms in Las Vegas and Carson City. The hearings will be videoconferenced between these courtrooms.
Written comments regarding the proposed amendments are invited and may be submitted electronically or in hard-copy format to Elizabeth A. Brown, Clerk of the Supreme Court, 201 South Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada 89701 or via email at nvscclerk@nvcourts.nv.gov by 5 p.m. on September 25, 2023. Persons interested in participating in the hearings must notify the clerk no later than September 25, 2023.
