On Dec. 22, 2023, the Nevada Supreme Court filed two orders approving matters related to the use of remote technology for virtual advocacy in Nevada courts:
- ADKT 0613: Amends Supreme Court Rules (SCR) Part IX-B (A) Rules Governing Appearance by Telephonic Transmission Equipment for Civil and Family Court Proceedings Rule 4, as set forth in Exhibit A, to create cohesion between the SCR and the newly developed “Preamble for Rules of Virtual Advocacy” and supporting “Presumptive Appearance Case Type” lists created by the commission. This amendment becomes effective Jan. 21, 2024.
- ADKT 0581: Adopting the recommendations from the Commission to Study Best Practices for Virtual Advocacy in Nevada’s Courts, including the Preamble for Rules of Virtual Advocacy and Remote Virtual Hearing Procedures as set forth in Exhibit A; Presumptive Appearance Case Types for Civil Cases in District Courts as set forth in Exhibit B; Presumptive Appearance Case Types for Criminal Cases in District Courts as set forth in Exhibit C; Presumptive Appearance Case Types for Family Cases in District Courts as set forth in Exhibit D; and Presumptive Appearance Case Types for Limited Jurisdiction Courts as set forth in Exhibit E. This order becomes effective Feb. 1, 2024.
