On November 4, 2021, the Nevada Supreme Court received a petition from Chief Justice James Hardesty in Administrative Docket (ADKT) 0588, requesting the court amend the Nevada Code of Judicial Conduct rules 4.2(C) and (C)(3) to comport with the Nevada Legislature’s anticipated amendments to the Nevada Revised Statutes 293.177, relating to the declaration of candidacy in elections. The petition also requests amendments to rule 4.2(D) relating to the election filing date for municipal court judges. The proposed amendments can be found in the exhibits attached to the ADKT.
On November 18, 2021, the court held a public hearing in this matter and considered comments from the bench, bar, and public. The Nevada Supreme Court invites additional written comment from the bench, bar, and public regarding the petition.
