Las Vegas Justice Court Issues Order Altering, Rescinding, and Setting Expiration Dates for Coronavirus Procedures
On Tuesday, May 26, the Las Vegas Township Justice Court issued Administrative Order 20-10 relaxing some court procedures related to the coronavirus pandemic. Several of the changes become effective June 1, 2020.
The following Administrative Orders expire June 1:
- 20-04: Temporary Procedures in Criminal and Civil Cases
- 20-05: Temporary Procedures in Criminal Cases
Administrative Order 20-02, Temporary Procedures in Criminal Cases, is rescinded effective immediately.
Administrative Order #20-08 is amended to set the hours for the Criminal Customer Service Windows to 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, effective June 1, 2020. Administrative Order 20-09 is amended to read:
The time period for calculating the speedy trial time limit under NRS 178.556(2) shall be deemed to continue as of June 1, 2020, and shall be deemed to exclude the tolling period that was previously mandated by this administrative order.
Administrative Order 20-10 also establishes that out-of-custody arraignments, preliminary hearings, and trials shall be scheduled for dates on or or after June 1, 2020.
