New Dean Selected for Boyd Law School
Today Neal Smatresk, president of the University of Nevada Las Vegas, announced that Daniel W. Hamilton will be the third dean of the Boyd School of Law. Hamilton is currently employed by the University of Illinois College of Law as associate dean and professor of law and history; he will start work with Boyd on July 1, 2013.
"I am extremely proud to become the third dean of the William S. Boyd School of Law, and I am looking forward to continuing Boyd Law's tradition of excellent teaching, outstanding scholarship and active engagement with the academy and the community," Hamilton said.
Hamilton is a graduate of George Washington School of Law; additionally, he earned a Ph.D in American legal history from Harvard and an undergraduate degree from Oberlin College. He is a well-published author, having written several reviews and articles on American legal history, with a particular focus on constitutional issues that arose during the American Civil War.
