A Note from the issue Editor
bY KRistEN simmoNs, EsQ.
This month’s issue of Nevada Lawyer addresses current issues in family law. In our first feature, Marshal Willick outlines the evolution of the concept of marriage in Nevada and looks at possible interpretations in the future. Our second feature, by Gary Silverman, discusses the definition of “waste” in dividing community property. Both Mr. Willick and Mr. Silverman have also provided expanded versions of their articles, which can be found on the state bar’s website at www.nvbar.org > Publications > Nevada Lawyer > May 2011. Bob Cerceo gives us a brief look at the Family Law Conference in Ely and the growth of the state bar’s Family Law Section. Thank you to Bob, both for this highlight of the conference and for all of his assistance in coordinating the features for this month’s issue. Finally, Nevada Lawyer would like to extend its thanks and appreciation to Professor Steve Johnson, who has assisted in coordinating our Dean’s Column for some time. Prof. Johnson is leaving UNLV to take a position at Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee. We wish him all the best of luck in his new endeavors.
